Is It Worth Getting Monster Hunter Tri, despite the possibility of MH Portable 3rd being released?

I was wondering whether to get Monster Hunter Tri since I am getting close to HR9 in Monster Hunter Unite and also running out of things to do on that game.
I have heard that Tri has good multi-player capabilities, but with Portable 3rd maybe being released in 6 months or so in the west (hopefully); I am thinking that I should maybe hold on until then.
